In these days people in the U.S. use 20 million barrels of gas a day and are growing hungry for more. In the U.S. that equals 2.5 trillion miles a year in driving. Now gas prices are getting to the limit of going off the charts and Americans do not like it. With are main source of oil in this country wiped out (Gulf Coast, Louisiana and Texas) we now have to dip into the national oil reserve.

The U.S. is the biggest consumer of gas, but in the real sense spends less on a gallon of gas then other countries spend on a liter. Now with gas prices at its highest ever most people are outraged at it. People in America are lucky about the gas prices compared to the countries in Europe and Asia. Now more than ever big companies are trying to make cars that run on less fuel, like the Civic Hybrid. This will save both money and fuel.

With the world using up all the gas it is estimated that the rest of the gas will be used up within 30 years. In 2000 gas prices were at only a $1.50, but in just five years the gas prices jumped almost a $1.00 to $2.50. With gas prices high the demand for gas has decreased and the demand for cars that use less fuel are strong.

With gas prices soaring will the gas prices ever go down again and if they do will the gas run out before we find another fuel resource? Will we be able to regain the fuel stations we lost during to hurricanes in the gulf coast and be able to get are national gas reserve back to the previous account?
